How did you start CrossFit? I was planning on doing my regular after work group fitness class when some girls in the locker room started chatting about CrossFit. I decided to try CrossFit instead and have stuck with it ever since. Now whenever I see the group fitness instructor I run and hide.
What is your favorite part about CrossFit? There are so many things I love! My top 3 would be: Stress Relief: When you’re exhausted in a WOD, you don’t think about anything else but breathing Classmates: They hold me accountable every day. If I sleep in and miss class I will hear about it from at least 3 people Coaches: Whenever I’m ready to break they are right there to tell me to keep moving
What motivates you to continue CrossFit? 100% the results! My friends, coaches, coworkers, and family have all complimented that I look skinny! Not sure why no one told me when I was getting fat haha.
What are your favorite movements and favorite WOD? Rowing is probably one of my best exercises so I’ll say it’s a favorite. I really enjoy jerks and split jerks. Wallballs aren’t so bad, if I could just hit the target (Sorry Brooks!). GRACE is one of my favorite WODs.
What is your favorite CrossFit memory? My favorite CrossFit memory was the WOD with burpees and running in the pouring rain. At first everyone was complaining and then we just embraced it and kept pushing through.
What is the best advice you can give a fellow CrossFitter? “Focus on your fitness”, stolen from the 6 AM class, but it’s honestly so true. You need to push yourself and improve upon yourself. Take pride in the PRs you achieve regardless of what someone else’s PR is.
Tell us something about yourself (NOT fitness related) that others might not know. I like to paint and draw. I used to take lessons when I was younger and have participated in art competitions.
