How did you start CrossFit? After considering it for quite some time while developing a plan to reverse my sedentary cubicle life, a colleague said, “Just start. Everything is scalable and you’ll never feel like you’re ready.” He was right and I’m thankful for the little nudge that got me started sooner – thanks, Trevor!
What is your favorite part about CrossFit? “Mama always said: ‘CrossFit is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.’” – Forrest Gump. That is what he said, right? The variety, constant change, and being pushed to do things that would be well outside the realm of a ‘normal’ workout is my favorite part.
What motivates you to continue CrossFit? The results and the people keep me coming back. I couldn’t be happier with the changes I’m seeing in my body and the team here at BSC is incredibly supportive of one another.
What are your favorite movements and favorite WOD? What someone on urban dictionary eloquently defined as, “An awful torture machine that should be illegal under the eighth amendment, but gets out under a loophole that it is ‘fun’" – the erg is my favorite (after the workout is over). I may need to get my head checked after writing that.
What is your favorite CrossFit memory? My favorite CrossFit memory actually has nothing to do with me, but rather the BSC Resilience CrossFit community. One particularly tough workout had us finishing individually and I loved seeing people finish and immediately start cheering on those that were still working.
What is the best advice you can give a fellow CrossFitter? I’m not sure if I’m qualified to give any advice being so green, but I would say just keep being amazing. The support and motivation that comes out of this group is awesome and I look forward to more of it!
Tell us something about yourself (NOT fitness related) that others might not know. I started snowmobiling at an early age and completed my first major day trip (150 miles along the Canadian border) at 6 years old on my Yamaha Sno-Scoot. I have since ditched the little 80cc Scoot for a couple full sized sleds. While everyone lets out a collective groan when snow is in the forecast, I’m trying to figure out which trails will have the best conditions.
